Couple at The Porter Bar in Little Five Points, Atlanta Georgia

We have to admit, this next couple is pretty darn amazing. Not only are they fun people to hang out with, but they are perfectly balanced for each other. When Alex first contacted us, she described her speakeasy style wedding day and we were totally smitten. After a few wonderful conversations, Alex and Michael decided we were the best choice as their photographers, and we graciously accepted:) To go along with their wedding theme, they decided to go to one of Michael’s favorite bars, The Porter in Little Five Points in Atlanta, Georgia. We had a blast hanging out before the bar opened and even being allowed in their private cellar area for some pictures. Alex’s quick wit and hilarious quotes matched Michael’s calm and easy-going nature, needless to say we were laughing most of the morning. And do you see the ring?? It is a custom designed ring that they designed THEMSELVES!! Isn’t that amazing? We cannot wait to see the wedding band with it on their wedding day. After we took pictures in the cellar area, we walked the early afternoon streets in search of local graffiti walls, which is what the are is know for. We learned more about them as a couple and it became clear how much they love each other and are excited to be married. We cannot wait to share in their wedding day celebration not only photographers, but new friends as well.

Mazel Tov, you too!

Matthew and I love to photograph our wedding couples as they continue on their journeys together. But when we get to photograph other members of their families, it’s even more memorable. Such is the case with Caroline and James, which we met back in April of last year at Stacie and Tyler’s wedding. James is Tyler’s brother and him and his wife were expecting their first child. They have since been blessed with a beautiful and healthy baby boy and are enjoying the first weeks of parenthood surrounded by their loving families. And let me tell you, the family this little boy has joined is full of love and joy, especially his parents. Caroline and James were so amazing walking through Piedmont Park with us, we laughed and talked and it was easy to see why these two fell for each other, they are perfectly matched. Congratulations on your newest addition! We cannot wait to see what new and exciting adventures come your way!

Hello! We’ve been quiet on the blog lately, a post on why a bit later, but we are so thrilled that April is finally here! This month we are celebrating three couples getting married. One of which we had the privilege of photographing this past January in Beaufort, South Carolina where they will be having their destination wedding. Brandi and Paul are the sweetest of couples and shine bright when they are around each other. We were treated to a gorgeous day and beautiful locations near the ocean and inter-coastal areas of Beaufort. When we first talked to these two over the phone, it was an instant connection. Brandi had attended Kent State University, the same place Dawn had attended for college, and lamented about the overwhelmingly huge population of black squirrels on campus and walking to and from class in the snow.  Paul is in the military and grew up in Chicago, no stranger to those Northern winters either. These two met and instantly knew they were meant for each other. During their engagement session it was easy to see how much they mean to one another, Paul was ever the gentleman and whenever we asked Brandi to look at Paul, she beamed instantly. We are so fortunate that they found us and that we get to share in this chapter of their beautiful love story. We cannot believe that in 12 days they will be husband and wife! Congratulations you two, we cannot wait for your wedding!

Check out more of their engagement session here!

  • Brandi - Oh, I love the video!!! And of course all the pictures too! We CANNOT wait for the wedding! Now just 11 days away!!ReplyCancel

  • Meg Sexton - What a gorgeous location and couple! Love this. 🙂ReplyCancel

  • Katie Whitcomb - Love this session. It’s perfectly nautical and intimate.ReplyCancel

As wedding season approaches, we thought that we would talk a little bit about what is in our wedding day emergency kit. This kit is helpful for both photographers and brides preparing for their wedding day. Not every wedding has a need for the emergency kit, but in the whirlwind of the day, knowing the place where you placed your bobby pins can be the difference between the elegant windblown look and every stand of hair covering your face:) Here is a sampling of what we carry with us the day of:

Our list consists of:

  • Straws for brides to use to stay hydrated and not ruin their lipstick.
  • Hollywood Fashion tape to keep those stubborn straps in place.
  • Lint Roller for the grooms jacket.
  • Lemon Honey Cough drops for keeping pesky coughs at bay.
  • Rolaids or Tums to calm nervous stomachs.
  • Altoids for keeping breath fresh all day.
  • Tissues for tears during First Looks and to blot makeup.
  • Sewing kit for unexpected tears.
  • Tide Stick for white dresses and shirts.
  • Cotton Swabs for touching up eye makeup or cleaning rings.
  • Downy wrinkle Release for stubborn wrinkles in shirts and dresses.
  • Clear Nail Polish for stopping runs in tights.
  • Hair Ties for the obvious
  • Bobby Pins can save that up-do in a windstorm

Not Pictured: Granola bars, water, hand sanitizer, band-aids, pens, Aleve.

It’s worth it to put a small kit together and have it with you. It will save time, energy, and give you peace of mind that you can handle anything that happens on the wedding day! Stay tuned for a post on our new Wedding Day Styling Kit!
