What do you get when you take two stunning people and plan a courthouse wedding? Pure magic! Laura and David’s wedding at the Old Courthouse on the Square in Decatur, Georgia was an amazing venue to hold this stylish and chic wedding. When I met Laura, she told me her plans of getting married at the courthouse and then having a reception dinner with her family at Iberian Pig directly afterwards, I was in love. Honestly it was fate since I actually had photographed at the Dekalb County Courthouse with Jasmine Star at her Atlanta workshop last year and afterwards were treated to an amazing dinner at no other than the Iberian Pig! Needless to say we were elated when Laura and David chose us! When photographing the gorgeous architecture and granite of the courthouse, nothing can seem to compare. But, Laura looking radiant and incredible in her ivory dress and statement necklace (Rent the Runway all the way!), stole the show.  David was, however, a bit nervous and was very excited about marrying Laura. Whatever nerves he felt turned to tears of joy and his outpouring of emotion was a testament to how much he truly treasured and loved Laura as they said their vows to each other on the May afternoon. After the ceremony and family portraits, we made our way to the Iberian Pig, where their guests were treated to a lovely coral, ivory, and gold tablescape, champagne, and an assorted of artisan cheeses and meats that the restaurant is known for. David and Laura, we loved capturing their romantic and chic wedding day and wish you both happiness and love for years to come! Cheers!

Matthew and I are back in the swing of things after our Canadian vacation and our eyes are looking ahead at what the rest of 2015 has to offer. We know one event this that 2016 has for us is the wedding of my cousin Kevin and his beautiful fiance, Nicole. While they visited us this past Spring at Piedmont Park in Atlanta,  their wedding will take place one year from this post in Cleveland, Ohio near where they (and I) grew up. For as long as I can remember in recent times, Nicole has been with Kevin-high school and college. Both have now graduated from the University of Tampa and are now continuing their journey in South Carolina, where Kevin is in the Army Reserves and Nicole is starting on her Masters degree. They support each other, love and laugh with each other, and share in their passion for Indians baseball together, which to an Indians fan, is no easy feat. To say that I am proud of where they are and what they have accomplished would be an understatement. I can barely look at my cousin without thinking of the times I spent babysitting and sorting baseball cards with him, then to think he and Nicole are going to be husband and wife at this time next year. I can not think of a better woman than Nicole to be matched with Kevin and fit in with our crazy family, she is definitely one of us now:)  Matthew and I are so completely honored that they wanted us to celebrate and capture their wedding day memories for them. Gotta stop writing now, my eyes are a bit misty…:) Congratulations you two!!! We cannot wait for your 2016 wedding

We are so happy to bring this engagement session today:) Florrie and Jeremy are such special and wonderful human beings, both teachers, who have big hearts. Florrie’s creative and bright personality and Jeremy’s patient and calm manner balanced each other that day at Achumpkee Covered Bridge, where the mosquitoes, gnats and heat were continuous. Florrie’s fiery hair and cool blue and greens were so beautiful against the natural background of the forest and bridge. She looked so relaxed and free, completely herself in nature, it was really cool to photograph her bohemian spirit. Fun fact, there are only 20 covered bridges in Georgia left today, and we’ve been to two of them so far (the other at Stone Mountain Park). Florrie and Jeremy told us the story of how they met through a blind date and really hit it off from there! We know about blind dates, as Matthew and I met that way, so their story really melted our hearts. We cannot wait to celebrate with them this October! Congratulations again you two:)

Back in early May, I (Dawn) had the chance to accompany the effervescent Kelsey Freeman, from Kelsey Freeman Photography, as a second photographer. I like to learn and grow as a professional and getting the chance to be with other creative individuals in the wedding industry helps me bring ideas back to Matthew that we can improve on. Every experience is a new way seeing a portrait or framing a moment, it was fabulous hanging out at this low-key backyard wedding in Woodstock with Kelsey and the bride, Ashley, and groom, Matt. Ashley and Matt are extremely upbeat and loving people. Every time you saw them, they were smiling or making others smile too. The small ceremony early in the day was heartfelt and sweet and fit them perfectly. The reception party later also fit them because there was ton of dancing and laughing out on that dance floor- the guests really knew how to get a party started! I think the best part about this wedding was the closeness everyone shared because it was Ashley’s childhood home. It was warm and inviting and just gorgeous. Thank you so much Kelsey for inviting me! Congratulations Ashley and Matt!

We met Stacie and Tyler over a year ago when Matthew and I were first photographing together. When they described their “Baseball Glam” vision for their engagement pictures and wedding, we were sold! Take a gander at their Georgia Tech engagement session, it was gorgeous and so them:)

Stacie and Tyler have been together for 7 years prior to their wedding day. Tyler proposed at “their” spot during Thanksgiving break at a mountain lookout in North Carolina. And he made T-shirts that said “Give me the Rock” for her and “I gave her the Rock” from him- as a play on the Nike shirt. From that day forward it was onto planning a wedding in the heart of Atlanta. They decided on marrying at the absolute stunning Cathedral of Christ the King and reception at The Trolley Barn in Old Forth Ward.

Their wedding day theme of “Best Day Ever” and their love of baseball was seen all through their wedding, as evidenced by the image I captured when I first walked into Stacie’s hotel room at The Georgian Terrace. She had a big banner and was wearing a baseball jersey with her initials on the sleeve with the navy and gold colors they chose for their wedding day. Her stunning dress really was a show stopper, having two looks in one. Her main dress for the ceremony was a beautiful fitted lace dress and the tulle skirt attached was just the added flirty note for her reception:) Once she stepped out of that room, tears started flowing and her bridesmaids let out a collective “awwww”. Stacie and her mom were trying so hard to keep their tears at bay, but you can see how much love her mom has for her daughter. When we arrived at the Cathedral, we planned for their first look to be in front of a door somewhere in the building, but ended up having to use a stone corner out front. It was perfect for their emotional first look, even with a few family members looking on, Stacie and Tyler could only focus on each other. Both of them were a bundle of nerves, but ready for their ceremony! We whisked Stacie away and prepared for the moment where she would walk down the aisle to become Tyler’s wife. Their evening ceremony was so emotional and beautiful, with the setting sun shining through the stain glass windows, casting an orange warm glow in the sanctuary. During the ceremony, another added touch was that Stacie’s younger brother actually had his first communion during service, which makes their wedding day even more special for the families. After the ceremony, we headed to the Trolley Barn where there were so many surprises for their guests: S’mores Bar, Cornhole, Popcorn station, and a pretty spectacular entrance behind a friend in a Bee Costume breaking through a banner (staying within the Georgia Tech theme:) Their friends showed their best moves on the dance floor and the night came to a wonderful end with an epic sparkler exit and getaway car (a Corvette Stingray!!)

Stacie and Tyler, we loved being a part of your wedding day and cannot wait to see what life has in store for you both! Congratulations!

-Dawn and Matthew
