When we were planning Laura and David’s engagement session, we knew we needed to match their chic and stylish personalities. So when Matthew and I were watching one of our favorite shows, Property Brothers, on HGTV, we knew we needed to find where they filmed the title scenes because that would match Laura and David perfectly! We searched high and low on the Internet, but nothing came up. Then, one night of long searching, we came across an image that looked very similar to that and low and behold when we scouted the location, that was it! We couldn’t wait to schedule their engagement! When we met them, the day was threatening rain, but we forged ahead anyways. Laura looked stunning and David’s coral button down complimented her navy top, we felt like we were photographing for a high end magazine that day. We learned about their engagement and how David asked her before he had the ring. He just KNEW he needed to ask and went for it! The way Laura looked at David as he recounted that story, was so sweet. She could not stop smiling!

Since we are playing a bit of catch-up on blog posts, **Spoiler Alert** These two are already married as of two weeks ago! We were so lucky to have been able to photograph their intimate wedding in Decatur, so look out for some beautiful images as well! Congratulations Laura and David!!!

It’s been a quick few months since Braydon and Jenny’s Pi Day themed wedding, but we are still smiling as we look back on their day fondly! The two have such vibrant and loving personalities, it’s hard not to feel like you not a part of their family once you meet them. Their smiles light up a room (or a reception tent in our case) as they both shine brighter when they are together. We started their epic Pi-Day wedding at the Atlanta LDS Temple, which is a gorgeous temple if you have not seen it! The mint green stained glass on the outside perfectly complimented Jenny’s mint green lace dress. Paired with a true vintage hat, the dress color was a welcome surprise and highlighted her bright and carefree style. Each of her closest ladies had a “Pi” sign necklace, as well as Braydon’s guys had “Pi” cufflinks. Did we mention Jenny is a Math Teacher? They were greeted outside of the temple by their closest friends and family and immediately all their nieces and nephews started rushing toward them. It was truly a sight to see. After family pictures were finished, we walked around the Temple grounds and took some great pictures of just the two of them. Including an epic shot of them jumping! Braydon made the best faces all day, he is such a character. Even though there was a little rain early in the morning, the late morning was cool and rain free!

Later in the day we traveled about an hour east to their reception house and the weather was truly gorgeous. A warm breeze, blue sky with fluffy white clouds, all the makings of a perfect Spring afternoon. Their reception had all the special touches and charm we knew this couple would bring. From the “Pi” table with different kinds of sweet and savory pies, to the adorable “Pi” coloring books Jenny designed for the little ones, their style and personality shined through. We loved seeing their tribute table as a wonderful linking of the families and the slideshow and Braydon and Jenny through the years. The one thing that struck us the most was how warm and inviting everyone was. It felt as though we were invited to a family reunion! The first dance something of a surprise to everyone. They were dancing to Queen’s “Somebody to Love” and at a strategic moment broke away from each other and Braydon danced with his older sister and Jenny her dad. After a few more moments THEY broke away and pulled other people to the dance floor. And so on and so on, until the dance floor was filled with people laughing and smiling, their love had indeed grown exponentially! The party did not stop there though! There was plenty of dancing, pies in the face, and singing along to songs from Frozen:) We loved every minute we spent with these two that day and truly consider ourselves lucky to have met them. Congratulations Braydon and Jenny! Best wishes to you both!

Hunter and Justine’s engagement session was exactly the right balance of whimsical and fun that Matthew and I have been looking for! They told us they wanted a literary themed engagement session, but we didn’t know until the day of that is was going to be Harry Potter themed! And not only that, they had a Time Turner necklace that Justine would wear! We were giddy with all the creative props they brought to the session, it was just so fun! We met at Birmingham’s Morris Avenue, a very popular place for photographers. Just that evening we saw two bridal portraits, three engagement sessions, and a few senior portraits. It was too cool to see the community of photographers embrace such an historical/industrial area. We walked the length of the street and had the most gorgeous light we have seen in awhile. We even braved a fire escape and captured some magical moments on the iron stairs! Hunter and Justine are not only literary and cultural buffs, but they are avid Boston Red Sox fans, so we had to take some pictures with their cute throw blanket and baseball gloves. They took the sweetest portrait of them walking down Morris Ave. with the gloves hanging off the end of the bats, it was adorable! Matthew and I had a blast exploring this area of Birmingham and look forward to seeing pictures of Justine and Hunter’s wedding this summer! Congratulations you two!
